Cavalier by T.L Smith

It is free on Amazon
Sometimes I like to dabble in free books on Amazon. I have found some good books this way. Cavalier was a good book; it had the potential to go one way or the other. It didn’t, there were some dark spots, only one.
What was too much for me thought was the fact that it’s was repetitive when it didn’t need to be. The fact that our h was like I think I more than love him but i can’t want him. Our H was like I want her, but I don’t want her. I can’t stay away from her, so I am going to push her away. It was the whole book honestly. I love angst but I wanted something other than conflict on feelings.
There wasn’t much in the way of mystery, or the fact that there wasn’t much of a plot. It honestly wasn’t a bad book; it was just repetitive. See no one likes reading that.
I may pick up the other books, but I am not really anticipating it, nor am I going to go out of my way to find them. I may pick them up if I have nothing else to read.

Into The Madness by A.K Koonce

Author: A. K. Koonce
Genre: Reverse Harem / Slow Burn
Page Count: 247

Okay I am a big fan of Koonce. I have a few of her books on my shelf, and this one also didn't disappoint.

I saw this on my feed, and I decided to skip the KU thing and just buy the book. Super glad I did. This was an interesting take on the whole Wonderland trope. This was more like if Wonderland existed and there was a mirror land. This was it, Into the Madness was about a girl who found her way into another world. She found out some devastating new and ran off to a party to have the one thing she wanted off of her bucket list.

The boy she chose decided to well "Finish" without her and she managed to find herself on the beach afterward where she was pulled into a darker version of Wonderland. I enjoyed this book just like I enjoyed most of what Koonce writes. it was a good break from my Dark Romance addiction.

This is a slow burn; I know the guys I want Madison to be with. I also am not sure how I feel about all this I am going to use this chick for my own personal gain thing.

In this book though all the characters have their own personality. This determines who they are, I love the take on this version of Alice in Wonderland for sure. I can’t wait to see where Koonce takes this.

Depravity by Natalie Bennett

Happy New Year you amazing Bibliophiles!
With the new year brings us a clean slate, well not, really right? With our ever growing TBR piles and the newest authors coming on the scene it will never be a clean slate not really.
Let’s begin shall we, because as you all may know I was once on a blog with another blogger and we had created between the sheets. Well that blogger abandoned me unfortunately; so, Zephyr’s Bookshelf is born.
I want to start off with my first read book of the new year. This one is a re-read for me, one of my favorite authors to date.

The amazing Miss Natalie Bennett.
Title: Depravity
Genre: Twisted Romance/ Dark Romance
Page count: 227
Publication: 2018

How do I begin with this book without coming off as a fangirl? I am not sure I can, those of you who love the dark side of Romance, the ones who love the male with loose morals and the women who become obsessed will love this author. Natalie Bennett has a certain style of writing; it continues to impress me on how she immerses you into her world and you come out the other side with a question in your mind.

What question is that you may ask me? Well for me it’s I can’t believe that someone this amazing exists. So, the question always is are there others? The answer to that is yes. But that is for another time. Let’s get back to the book, shall we?

This particular book is a Ménage, That’s one female with two males. Our MC’s for this book are, Declan, Ethan, and Helena. Helena grew up in a real messed up situation, one that contained abuse. Her mother knew there was something evil in her. Whether Helena was born this way or was she created we will never know. All we know is that she likes to ‘fix’ things.

Declan is one of the Delia son’s a particularly twisted family with a messed-up job. They own the chateau where they have Red Rooms. If you don’t know what this is, I would say google it but I wouldn’t put you through that. Really what it is, is snuff films. Now if you don’t know what that is? I don’t want to break you. Just know it’s not something you would probably take pleasure in.

Now our story begins with Declan and his lover Ethan, they come back to the chateau for the grand reopening. They have always loved each other, but they knew something was missing. They wanted a third in their little fucked up relationship. Someone who would support their lifestyle. Enter Helena, her life had made her a blank slate. Someone to be molded and perfect for the duo. We find out some of their back story, how they bring their women into the fold.

I am going to be completely honest here. I loved this book, it’s the third in the series but it’s a standalone. You can read this one without reading the other two. It’s a great addition to your bookshelf if you like the dark, twisted, loose moral kind of romance.

Every Last Psycho by Zarina Macha

Author: Zarina Macha
Genre: Young Adult
Page Count: 240

Every Last Thought:

The first book is about a girl who suffers from Schizophrenia. She hears voices and has delusions. She attempts to have a normal childhood and it fails hard for her. My heart was cracked open and I bled with this poor girl.

Honestly, I don’t know much about this disease and reading it through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl it made me feel the pain I didn’t know I could feel. I may be in my thirties now, but I felt that I could relate with this girl. Her being in love with someone she could never have and ending up with a boy she shouldn’t be with. I had that life; I battle with depression and not the same thing as Schizophrenia, but I did a lot of the same things she did to hide from the pain.

I loved that story. A lot. I was amazed by the words that flowed on the page and sucked me into a young girl battle with a mental disorder.

Psycho Girl:

I found this one shocking; it was no less good. I was surprised by the lengths someone would go to show her own pain and anger. Evelyn had her own share of problems and she finally cracked when she didn’t get something, she thought she was owed.

Zarina did an amazing job on these novellas. I saw her books posted on FB quite a few times and I loved this cover. I was happy to dive right in and soak up those words on the page. I learned quite a few things and I didn’t expect that. This book is not PG by any means. there are some things that will cause some to trigger so please be aware of it.

It is very much worth the read and a four-star in my book. Thank you again, Zarina for writing this. It was for sure a pleasure to read it.
